Take free rein over the composition and arrangement of design elements.“ You don’t take a photograph, you make it. - Ansel Adams
A still life is an arranged collection of inanimate objects. Creating still lifes allows you the complete freedom of design for your photograph. You can play around with light, colours and angles. Photographing a still life is a fantastic way to get used to lighting and composition. Try some of these still life ideas to get started.
I wanted to do this one because I love the fact that after constructing and photographing a food themed still life you get to eat and drink it all, add in some good company and there's a recipe for great photos and a great evening.
You don't have to do cheese and wine… the theme is food & drink. Enjoy this one!
The theme is "Summer". You can make your still life as simple or as complex as you'd like. Gather summer items, use your imagination. You could shoot this one indooors or outdoors, there are no rules. Relax and enjoy arranging objects for photography. It might just be me, but, I find arranging a still life to be very relaxing.
